Kathy Bowers grew up at St. Andrew's. In 1976, Kathy answered God's call and joined the Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary (an international protestant, interdenominational sisterhood, founded in Darmstadt, Germany in 1947.)
Kathy is one of the founding sisters of the Brazilian branch in Curitiba, where she and her sisters focus on three fronts:
1) literature - translating, printing and distributing books and leaflets
2) the prayer garden for prayer and counseling
3) a reconciliation ministry for hurting people
Kathy and the sisterhood are active in street evangelism, spiritual retreats and distribute Christian films. They print and distribute prayer, discipleship, devotional books and evangelization leaflets. Currently, they distribute leaflets to over 50 Brazilian prisons, and their reconciliation ministry includes working with CONPLEI, a group of indigenous Christian pastors, who are ministering to the many Brazilian tribes who have never heard the gospel. Susan Sanchez communicates regularly with Kathy and would be glad to give you more information about Kathy and her ministry.
