Spring is here and another school year will be soon coming to a close at St. Barthélémy Montessori School in Terrier Rouge. The St. Barthélémy School, now with nearly 400 students, is a state of the art Montessori school that is totally solar powered. The children are taught in French and are using laptop computers. The school has given this community of 35,000 people in Terrier Rouge a sense of hope and pride, and the adult education literacy program is now in its third year.
Just $200 a year provides a uniform, books and a hot meal daily for each student, that for many of the children will be the only meal they get. If you would like to support a new child or renew an existing scholarship, simply submit a check with the church offering or to the church office. In the memo line, write “Haiti scholarship” or your child’s name. Scholarship renewals are being accepted now for the fall and would be very much appreciated so Père Bruno and his staff can prepare for the students return in September.
We are always looking for new sponsors for the children as a new kindergarten class is added each year. If you are not currently sponsoring a child and would like more information on the program, please contact either Janet Wheeler at: janetwheel@sbcglobal.net or stop by the "Haiti Sponsor a Child" table setup in the Gathering Area on April 20 and April 27. We'd love to tell you more!
Thank you all in advance for continuing to make a real difference in the lives of these wonderful children!
