"Reaching Others
for Christ"

The mission of the St. Andrew’s Outreach Committee is “reaching others for Christ,” and it is always exciting each year to see who God is going to bring through our doors.

Many different paths lead visitors to our church. Some are new to Houston, looking for a church home. Others are transferring their membership from another church; some come for treatment at our famous Medical Center and find their way to St. Andrew’s.

A number of visitors come seeking a closer relationship with Christ by a profession of their faith or by reaffirmation of their faith. We pray that all of them are surrounded by the warmth of our church family and the fellowship of this community of believers.

If you are a visitor to St. Andrew’s and have questions you would like to ask Pastor Jeff or Pastor Jane or are considering joining our congregation, we invite you to come to one of our "Discovery Class" series. Our Discovery Class series is offered three times a year for visitors who wish to join St. Andrew’s or who wish to find out more about our congregation before they make that decision. The classes are held at Pastor Jeff's home, and dinner is included! This is a great opportunity for you to meet other visitors, new members and church staff and enjoy the fellowship as you learn more about St. Andrew’s.

Pastor Jeff talks about what it means to be a Christian, what it means to be a Presbyterian and what it means to be a member of St. Andrew’s – and he takes time to answer any questions you might have. If you decide to join our church family, a "New Member" Sunday is held following the Discovery classes.

In addition to the Discovery Classes, members of the Outreach Committee “reach out” in many other ways such as acting as greeters on Sunday mornings, making phone calls and sending letters to visitors, participating in our shepherd program for new members, inviting the Children’s Place School parents to special events and reaching out to the community through our School of Fine Arts.

We are thankful and blessed to have so many people in our church family who are willing to be part of this important ministry. If you would like additional information on the Outreach Committee and how you can be involved, please contact Jackie Salinas, 2007 Chair.
