Every year as we near Christmas and Easter, I always look forward to reading the comic strip B.C. by Johnny Hart. He was raised in a casually religious family, attending Sunday School regularly. He says that he became fascinated by the Bible at a young age. When in his mid-forties, Hart began attending an evangelical Presbyterian church in Nineveh, New York. He credits his spiritual awakening to a father-son team of contractors who installed a satellite dish. Did those contractors realize what impact their witness to Johnny Hart would have?

The comic strip appears in many newspapers, but not all. Hart is very controversial, because he’s a Christian and testifies boldly. He could earn more money by keeping Jesus out of his Christmas and Easter comic strips, but he chooses to witness instead.

Discipleship has a cost. Jesus told us that, but He also told us to go for it. The Holy Spirit would provide the words. Think about how many people Johnny Hart touches. Some people say that it’s great, but I can’t touch so many people. Think again about the contractors. They witnessed to Hart. Let the Holy Spirit do the work. With God all things are possible.

Comic strips appeal to children of all ages. Share Christmas and Easter time B.C. comics with children, friends, and acquaintances. They also make great conversation starters so that you, too, can share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
