"The Importance of Children Studying Diligently "

Pastor Jeff talks alot about the world’s story and God’s story. The world we
live in is plagued with terrorist attacks, hunger, injustice, and a deep chasm
between rich and poor. We reside in a nation where living the Christian faith is
not a priority yet we live under the assumption that everyone is a Christian.
Our children grow up in homes where Bibles are plentiful yet not read.
Churches abound but sporting events, leisure activities, homework or apathy
are more important than attending church and growing in the faith. This is the
world’s story.

In many homes, the story of our faith simply is not communicated to others,
and so the next generations will be incapable of passing on the story, its
meaning, and application. The church must help adults, youth, and children to
think, reflect, live, do, and pass on the stories of faith. But there is hope.

In order to prepare people to live God’s story, we must be intentional about
nurturing their faith in a faith community that studies diligently. We should help
our children make the connection between the content and its application so
that through the work of the Holy Spirit, they may be transformed. Seeds need
to be sown for the Holy Spirit to water. On a regular basis, our children need
to attend weekly opportunities like worship, Sunday School, choir and special
events like Life Flight and Bible-Choir Camp. In doing so, they will learn and
grow in community.

Parents need to prioritize. We must prepare our children with God’s story and
help them build their faith to live responsibly in the face of the world.
