It should be obvious by now that we've chosen a very unique design for the new website of St. Andrews.
What may not be obvious is why...
In the Fall of 2006, the Session of St. Andrew's voted to re-orient the way we thought about church toward a mentality of discipleship. In doing so, the Session adopted six marks (later became seven) that they believed when lived out could be a sort of signpost pointing the way down the path as disciples of Christ and a measuring rod, or ruler, to help us identify areas of strengths and weaknesses in our journey as disciples of Christ.
In adopting these 7 Marks, the Session was not introducing the Church to simply the latest gimmick or slogan, but rather committing St. Andrew's to be a church that was truly committed to the idea of discipleship, no matter what the cost.
In recognition of our call as a "7 Marks" church, committed to Christ in every aspect of our lives, this website has been designed around these 7 Marks, not for the purpose of compartmentalizing these Marks into one area of our lives, but for the purpose of helping us as a community to be consistently dwelling on these marks and on what it means to be a disciple of Christ in our everyday lives.
So I hope you enjoy the new site. Take some time to get used to it and let the idea of discipleship weigh upon your heart. As you browse the site, take some time and think of which of these Marks you may be weakest in, and look for ways that you can grow in that area. At the same time, if you're strong in any particular Mark, how can you help someone else who may not be? If you ever get lost on the site, simply click the "Home" button on the left and you'll be brought back to the main page.
Finally, some of the pages are still under construction, so we appreciate your patience while we work to get them up soon. If you have trouble finding what you're looking for, please email me at: jrowe@sapch.org
